BAR TO D.S.O.
TWO IMMEDIATE AWARDS
Immediate awards of a bar to the D.S.O. to Brigadier H. K. Kippenberger, D.5.0., and the award of the D.S.O. to Major T. H. Bevan were announced today by the Minister of Defence (Mr Jones). Brigadier H. K. Kippenberger, D.5.0.. whose next-of-kin is his wife, Mrs. R. Kippenberger, Rangiora, North Canterbury, enlisted in Christchurch in September, 1939. Before that he' had served two and a half years with the First N.Z.E.F., and 14 years with the New Zealand Territorial Force. He sailed with the First Echelon and was promoted to the rank of Brigadier in 1941. He was wounded in December, 1941, and has since been awarded the D.S.O. 'and mentioned in dispatches. Brigadier Kippenberger was a barrister in civil life. I Major T. H. Bevan, whose next-of-kin is his wife, Mrs. G. Bevan, Hoharia Road, Onehunga, Auckland, went overseas with the Second Echelon, and was mentioned in dispatches early in 1942. He was reported wounded in the present Libyan campaign. He had twelve years' service with, the Territorial Force before enlisting in January, 1940 '
