Lecture on • Wednesday at 7.30 p.m.,. by Madame Logan ' Britton. . ; L___L| OF j GOD f____ ' "GOD HATH APPOINTED A DAY, IN 1 THE WHICH HE WILL JUDGE THE WORLD J IN RIGHTEOUSNESS BY THAT MAN WHOM HE HATH ORDAINED; WHEREOF HE HATH GIVEN ASSURANCE UNTO ALL MEN IN THAT HE HATH RAISED HIM FROM THE DEAD." (Acts 17:31.) MR. H. G. WELLS, when broadcasting recently, was reported In the cable news to have , said, "Thirty years ago, to think of one supergovernment throughout the world was an impossible dream. Now it is an imperative necessity." We would add that "one super-govern-ment throughout the world" ls not only "an • imperative necessity," it is pure logic and common sense. "One super-government throughout the world" is coming as sure as dayfollows night, but Mr. Wells errs greatly when , he Imagines that such a government can or will be established by human instrumentality. The Word of God declares that the existing , "Kingdoms of men" "shall not cleave one to '. another" (Dan. 2:43), and recent proof of the ' infallibility of the Word of God exists in the , complete failure of the League of Nations to achieve Its objective—"lnternational co-opera- ■ tion and peace and security." But whereas all human attempts to create "ope super-govern- • ment throughout the world" ' are doomed to I failure and disaster one universal super-govern-ment is the Divine objective, and this objective will be achieved at the second coming . of Jesus Christ "with power and great glory" (Acts 1:11, Acts 3:19-21, Matt. 23:37-39, Luke 21:27). Then, according to the Scriptures, all existing human governments will be swept away • and "one super-government" will be established at Jerusalem, the geographical centre lof the earth. (Dan. 2:44, Hag. 2:22, Rev. 11:15, Jer. 3 :17, Isa. 24:23, Jer. 23.5, Dan. 7 :14, Zech. 9:10, Zech. 14:9, Psa. 72:8, Psa. 67:4). 1 This "super-government" will consist of Jesus Christ and His immortalised saints, all em- , bodlments of Divine wisdom and all possessing Almighty power to enforce it (Isa. 32 :1, 2 Tim. 2:12, 1 Cor. 6:2, Rev. 20:6, Rev. 5:9-10, Rev. 2:26-27, Matt. 19:28). In this government the world will truly have, In the language of Mr. Wells, "something over and above the patchwork of governments we Inherit," even a government that will fill the earth with the glory of the Lord and bring peace and untold blessings to "all families of the earth" (Numbs. 14:21, Luke 2:14, Gen. 12:3, Gen. 22:18, Gals. 3 :16, Psalm 72, Isaiah chap. 2, Isaiah chap. 11, etc.)., * Reader, the foregoing Is a brief outline of the "Gospel of the Kingdom of God"—the Gospel Jesus preached (Matt. 9:35, Luke 8:1, Luke 4:43). You cannot receive salvation unless you believe this Gospel (Mark 18:15-16, Roms. 1:16, Mark 10:15). Harbord Tomorrow (Sunday) at 7 p.m. - in the Red Cross Hall, Market St* off Woburn Rd,. Lower Hutt. j GOSPEL MESSAGE. _ MARK 16:16—that great anti-war text. That no ORDINARY HANDS (Isa. 45:7) ' are directing the nations to their appointed ' destiny (Jer. 30:11, Dan. 4:35) is a Scrip- '* tural view finding wider acceptance. Man and 1 his Maker are estranged (Gen. 3:17-19) to the " former's loss (Job 14:1-10). Across the gulf . of sin and death (Rom. 5:12) lies God's re- ] conclling bridge, Christ (2 Cor. 5:19), \vhose f toll gate formula runs, "He that belleveth and - is baptised." No favouritism (Acts 10:34). i Daily readings. Frank Williment, 61 Ponsonby " M. I
