NEW ZEALAND SPEARHEAD
(Rec. 8 a.m.) CAIRO, Jan. 21.. The New Zealand forces were again the spearhead of the Eighth Army on Friday, when the offensive opened against the Germans' most southern defences in Tripolitania. Strong forces of New Zealanders smashed through Rommel's defences. The first elements they encountered were the same Germans they had previously trounced in the delaying action which allowed the Eighth Army to consolidate on the M Alamein line.
