CHRISTMAS CAROLS AT "HOMEWOOD"
Although the strong wind made conditions very unpleasant out at Karori yesterday well over 2000 people assembled at "Homewood." the residence of Mr. and Mrs. B. Sutherland, for the annual Christmas carol afternoon in aid of the Wellington Free Kindergarten. Approximately £125 waj raised, and those who attended the function were well rewarded by the fine programme of Yuletide music presented by the Wellington Harmonic Society and the Apollo Singers (conducted by Mr. H. Temple White), and the Wellington City . Battalion Home Guard Band (conducted by Lieutenant A Iremonger). The guests also had the pleasure of viewing the lovely gardens,, fern grottoes, greenhouses, j game enclosures, and aviaries.
