IMPROVED POSITION

"Our position in the Solomons unquestionably has improved," writes Hanson Baldwin in the "New York Times." "Reinforcements and replacements have been landed on Guadalcanal. Damaged ships have been repaired and new vessels undoubtedly have entered the area. Our supply system has improved. "We still maintain air superiority around Guadalcanal. "Our position should strengthen with each passing week."
