WELLINGTON CUSTOMS
A marked decrease on the figure for October, 1941, is shown in the net Customs'revenue collected at the Port of Wellington during the month ending today. Sales tax is up slightly, and there are considerable increases in beer excise duty and in war tax collection. '
This month's net Customs revenue totalled £182,516, compared with £238,718 in October, 1941, a decrease of £56,202. For the ten months the figures are £2,114,773 and £2,427,657 respectively, a decrease of £312,884.
Collections of sales tax this month totalled £99,428, compared with £98,977 in October, 1941, an increase of £451. For the ten months the figures are £968,561 and £945,274 respectively, an increase of £23,287.
Beer excise collections this month were £13,338, compared with £8988 in October, 1941, an increase of £4350. For the ten months the figures are £121,677 and £85,640, an increase of £36,037.
War tax under its separate heads totalled £358,014 this month, compared with £131,796 in October, 1941, an increase of £226,218. For the ten months the figures are £2,501,365 and £1.255,390 respectively, an increase of £1,245,975.
