NEW AMPUTATION TECHNIQUE
(Rec. 12.30 p.m.) ; NEW YORK, September, 11. \ ': A new type of shockless amputation through chilling with a refrigerator was described at the American Congress of Physical Therapy by Dr.! Lyman Crossman and Dr. Frederick Allen, developers of a portable unit adaptable to use on the war fronts. The technique is equally valuable in gases of compound fractures and burns. .Refrigeration minimises infection and loss of blood, enables lower imputations to •be made, and:decreases the mortality- rate from gangrene. i
