SLIP ON MAIN TRUNK

All four expresses operating on the Main Trunk were delayed today by a slip which occurred north of Mataroa, near Taihape, but the slip was cleared by 5 a.m. The Auckland train due in Wellington at 7 a.m. was 5 hours 18 minutes late at Marton and arrived at 12.59 this afternoon, and the Limited, due at 9.30 a.m. and running four hours late at Marton, arrived in Wellington at 2.13 p.m. The northbound trains were delayed even more. The early train to Auckland was nine hours behind schedule at Ohakune. and the Limited, due at 9.30 a.m., was 6 hours 20 minutes late at the same point.

A Press Association message from Auckland stated that the first express from .Wellington would arrive at Auckland at about 3 p.m. today, and the Limited shortly afterwards.
