RAIDS FAR AFIELD

MORE VESSELS SUNK

LONDON, June 9. A Japanese submarine machinegunned the survivors of a native vessel, which it had torpedoed, while they were clinging to wreckage, says the Colombo correspondent of the "Daily Telegraph." Eleven out of the crew of 18 were killed by bullets, drowned, or victims of sharks. The sui-vivors were picked up by a British cruiser.

A message from Cape Town says V at the naval authorities at Simons Town announced that three merchantmen had been lost near the east coast of southern Africa.
