STAGE STARS HELP BLINDED ACTOR
The proceeds of a special performance of "The Man Who Came to Dinner," given at the Savoy, London, recently, went to a fund for Esmond Knight, the actor, who was blinded while serving in H.M.S. Prince oJ Wales during the Bismarck action Stage stars attended in full force. During the interval the copy of the play used by Marcel Varnel in the
production was auctioned by Leslie Henson, and was sold to Emlyn Williams for 50 guineas. The accompanying photograph was taken during the performance and shows three well-known members of the audience, Mrs. Richard Hearne seated with her husband, who is taking a ( light for his cigar from Frank Leighton.
