DARED THE MONSOON
AMERICAN BOMBERS
HIT LASHIO
LONDON, June 9. A communique issued in New Delhi describes how United States army bombers flew on June 3 through a monsoon from their base in India to attack the Japanese at Lashio. One bomber had a 35----minute duel with an enemy plane, but reached its base. Japanese installations, including the aerodrome and planes on the ground, railroad stock, equipment,' and supplies were bombed. As the raiders encountered extremely difficult weather they broke formation, but despite this all the bombers reached their objectives over wild mountainous regions. The monsoon weather . resulted, in four bombers failing to return to their base. . '•-..■.•..: -.:.'■. -~/iy-::>:^ ? ■:•-,.'■■ '
