ITALIAN GUNNERS WELCOME OPPORTUNITY OTTAWA, June 8. Italian prisoners of Libya manned British anti-aircraft guns to shoot down German raiders, WingiCom- | mander M. Loudon, a Britisl hero of the Libyan campaign, vouches for this. He is on his way to New York, where he will be feted with other British and American war heroes. "Some of our bpys," said Wing Commander Loudon, "heard that there were crack anti-aircraft gunners among a lot of Italian prisoners we had taken. Asked whether they would like to try their skill at popping Jerry planes, the Italians jumped at the opportunity, Under close observation, they were put at guns guarding our rear line airfields. They were very good, too." |
