AUSTRALIAN INCOME TAX

SYDNEY, June 8. South Australia has joined Victoria in an appeal to the High Court against the legality of the Federal uniform income tax legislation. The Premier of Queensland, Mr. Forgan Smith, stated in Sydney that it is probable Queensland will also join i Victoria and South Australia in their appeal. He added: "It is not only the right but the duty of the State Premiers to oppose the Federal uniform income taxation legislation with all the legal means in their power. "If the Premiers did not attack .^tho legislation now, the States would have no case at the end of the war when whatever Government is in office will endeavour to extend those powers," he [ said.
