EFFECTS OF HITLER'S VISIT WATCHED
WASHINGTON, June 6.
"Hitler's visit to Finland is a desperate attempt to bring Finland further into the Axis military campaign and to compromise her further in the eyes of the anti-Axis world." said the Secretary of State. Mr. Cordell Hull, at a Pf-ess conference. "Washington is still watching very closely whether Hitler's visit results in increased cooperation by Finland and the Axis against the Allies."
■ A Finnish spokesman said that I inland continued to follow a strictly independent course, and wished to retain American friendship.
