ITALIAN PEOPLE
WORRIED ABOUT FUTURE
LONDON, June 7. An officer and 16 men of the Rcyal Army Medical Corps who have spent 12 months as prisoners of war in Italy have reached Britain under the non-combatants' repatriation scheme. Speaking about conditions in Italy, one man said that the Italian people were much concerned with what was going to happen to Italy when the
United Nations won the war.
While in Naples the prisoners saw some of the ruins caused by British bombs. They spent some time at Benghazi, where they had to work on the docks.
One day British planes dropped incendiary bombs on three ships, which caught fire and blew up. "We looked round for our German and Italian guards," said one man, "but they had '.'one Tor shelter."
He added that the prisoners went on a sight-seeing trip in Benghazi and remained at liberty until late at night.
