ANNUAL CONFERENCE
The annual conference of the New Zealand Federation of Drapers, Clothiers, and Boot Retailers was held in Wellington last week.
During the conference addresses were given by Mr. B. S. Connor, associate member of the Price Investigation Tribunal, on "Price Control," and by Mr. J. L. Hay, Christchurch, on "Relationship between Employer and Employee."
The rules of the federation were revised and the name of the federation changed to the New Zealand Federation of Drapers and Allied Retailers. Provision is made in the new rules for the admission to membership of such other retail traders as are deemed to come within the scope of the federation^ activities.
Mr. J. R. Rendell, Auckland, and Mr. W. Simm, Wellington, were unanimously elected the first two life members of the federation.
Officers were elected as follows:— President, Mr. B. L. Blodorn (Timaru); vice-president, Mr. F. A. Smith (Auckland) ; immediate, past .president, Mr. W. M. Sexton (Palmerston North); advisory board, Messrs. W. E. Nichols, E. R. Norman, H. Smith, E. G. Shearer, and G. M. Stratmore (all of Wellington); council, North Island, Messrs. T. B. Ferguson (Hastings), W. P. Griffith (New Plymouth), C. S. Jeffs (Wanga,nui), K. R. Waite (Gisborne); South Island, H. Hurst (Nelson), G. D. Heffor'd (Ashburton), W. E. Moyle (Oamaru), and D. A. McDonald (Invercargill). In addition Auckland. Wellington, Christchurch, and Dunedin associations are to elect two council members representing their respective associations. Auditor, Mr. G. Y. Berry; secretary, Mr. G. L. Riley.
