Mr. J. S. Barton returned to Wellington from Auckland today. Mr. Justice Callan will leave Auckland for Wellington on March 8 to attend sittings of the Court of Appeal.

Canon R. G. Coats and Mr. G. T. Paterson arrived from Auckland today to attend a meeting of the Dominion council of the Red Cross Society.

Advice has been received that Major W. G. Tweedy, of Timaru, has arrived in the Middle East and has commenced duty as New Zealand Red Cross Commissioner.

Sir Michael Myers, Chief Justice, has returned to Wellington from Hamilton, where he presided over sittings of the Supreme Court, and Rotorua. Mr. Walter Green, of Wellington, one of the foundation members of the New Zealand Society of Accountants, has been elected 'a life member of that body.

Professor, H. Belshaw has been appointed representative of the University Senate on the Auckland Grammar School Board of Governors, in succession to Dr. E. Roberton, who has retired.

After fifteen years of continuous service, including a presidential term, on the Council of the New Zealand Society of Accountants, Mr. G. W. Reid, of Dunedin, has retired from offlce. His many services to the society, particularly in the education field, were heartily acknowledged at the annual meeting last night. Mr. Reid was one of the first three students to attain the degree of Bachelor of Commerce.
