PAUSE IN ATTACKS
DUE TO HEAVY CASUALTIES
(Rec. 11 a.m.) NEW YORK, Feb. 25
Lee Clark, Associated Press correspondent with General Mac Arthur's forces on Batan, believes that the lull in the enemy attacks is caused by the heavy Japanese casualties, which he estimates at nearly 30,000.
He said that the defenders alone have buried 2000 of the enemy, who were killed by artillery during the attempted landings on the west coast and in thrusts against the central front.
