FOR EMERGENCY USE
In order to safeguard the Dominion's . overseas communications in the event of any loss of the overseas cables due either to natural causes or to enemy action, two emergency radio-telegraph circuits in each direction have been provided between New Zealand and Great Britain and two circuits each way are now being established between New Zealand and the United States of America, said the
Prime Minister (Mr. Fraser) today.
In New Zealand, the radio terminals will be operated by the Post and Telegraph Department, and in the United States by R.C.A. The operation of the terminals in Great Britain will be the responsibility of Cables and Wireless, Limited, the company which is mainly responsible for Empire communications.
