CLASHES IN ITALY
Black Shirts and Civilians
(Rec. 9 a.m.) LONDON, Feb. 22
Several persons were killed or wounded when violent clashes occurred between Black Shirts and civilians at Turin. Milan, and Bologna, says a Tass (Russian) news agency report from Lisbon. German guards are being stationed in "unreliable" districts in North Italy.

Mr. Coates said: "The present threat to Australia is equally a threat to New Zealand. The Japanese attack on Darwin could not have had a more profound effect on the people of New Zealand if it had been a part of New Zealand that had been bombed. This is not a time to ventilate political differences or raise side issues. The only thing that matters is to prepare and implement the most effective measures for meeting the challenge. It. is the duty of. all of us to get into line and back up our national leaders to the utmost."
