SOVIET OFFENSIVE
ACTIVITY ON FOUR FRONTS
LONDON, February 19.
While official messages from Moscow today gave news of further Russian advances on the central front, other reports speak of various Soviet attacks on the Finnish, Leningrad, and southern frcmts.
Berlin radio admitted that the Russians were battering at the German ring around .Leningrad with exceptionally strong forces, including the heaviest type of tanks. The battle is described as the most violent since the opening of the present Russian offensive, and is still in progress. The Germans lost more than 1000 killed in a single day.
The Germans also speak of heavy Soviet attacks oh the southern front, and say that Russian infantry is going into battle with strong artillery and bomber support. Though the Germans declare that all these attacks have been repulsed, they admit that Russian pressure on the front has been so heavy that the German troops have had to be reinforced by Rumanian units.
