RAIDS ON U.S. LINES IN PHILIPPINES
(Rec. 2 p.m.) . RUGBY, February 18. , A United States-..-\frar Department communique states: "In the Philippine theatre new enemy air units are appearing over our lines and bombing pur troops.almost constantly.- Another bombing attack has been made on a refugee camp at Cabcaben.
"Hostile artillery fire on our forts from positions oru the-Cayite shore continues. . - r "
"In the Netherlands- East Indies a flight of American Flying Fortress bombers attacked Japanese", ships off Banka Island.. Direct hits- were scored on a. large enemy, transport and on a small one. Both are believed to have been sunk. Two enemy barges were destroyed. There was no damage to any of our planes." ......
"-. A. South-west -Pacific Command communique states Allied aircraft continued operations against enemy forces in south Sumatra. A squadron of American fighters engaged in an attack on ari enemy-occupied aerodrome shot down four enemy fighters without loss to themselves, whereas two fighters were shot down by Dutch bombers. In bombing attacks on enemy shipping, Dutch and American aircraft sank one large transport and hit two more, and American aircraft sank one large transport and hit two more, and destroyed *nariy barges full of troops.
