BOARDING-HOUSE FIRE
Serious damage was done to a twostorey /bOarding-house at 40 Abel Smith Street by a fire which broke out about 4.15 a.m. today, and one of the women occupants received slight injuries through jumping from a verandah. Most of those in the building escaped in night attire. Machines were in attendance from several fire stations, and when they arrived on the scene the top floor was well alight. When the hoses were brought into play, however> the fire was quickly subdued.
