Kelburn Patriotic Auxiliary. Attention is drawn to an advertisement in this issue of a meeting of the Kelburn Patriotic Auxiliary. Members are reminded to bring new members to this meeting. Grosvenor Club Activities. The Grosvenor Club recently held a very successful picnic at Day's Bay, which was attended by members of the Navy, Army, and Air Force. The popularity of the Saturday dances continues and on Sunday last a party of girls from the club visited a camp and spent the afternoon darning socks. This week, the girls will visit Wellington Hospital with comforts for wounded servicemen. Guild's Busy Afternoon, The Berhampore-Island Bay branch of the New Zealand Union of Townswomen's Guilds (Inc.) met recently in tho Masonic Hall, Adelaide Road, Mrs. V. Leach, hon. Dominion secretary, presided over a good attendance. A demonstration of papier mache work was given by Mrs. F. H. Whatley, and Mrs. Prentice gave a talk on E.P.S. work. Letters from soldiers overseas received by members thanking them for parcels were read before afternoon tea. Children's Holiday Treat. It was reported to the recent meeting.of the Levin Memorial Home Committee that the. 28.children in.the home had enjoyed a happy Christmas, and that their holiday treats included a visit to a pantomime. The committee expressed its appreciation of a variety of gifts from many good friends of the home. Mrs. A. R. Meek's resignation was accepted with regret, and she was made a life member of the committee. Schoolgirls Imprisoned. Five schoolgirls, aged between 15 and 17, have been imprisoned by German courts in Belgium for having passed on news heard on 8.8.C. broadcists or for having distributed antiGerman leaflets, according to the Independent Belgian Agency, states an English exchange.
