Mr. A. H. Johnstone, K.C., and Mr. J. B. Johnston, of Auckland,, are visiting Wellington.
The Rev. Father James O. Hendren, S.M., of St. Mary's, Manchester Street, Christchurch, has been appointed parish priest at Otaki, and will leave shortly to take up his new duties.
Appearing before Mr. Justice Blair in the Supreme Court yesterday afternoon on two charges of breaking, entering, and theft, and one of breaking and entering with intent to commit a crime, Eric Arthur Miles, aged 31, a bricklayer and plasterer, was placed on probation for two years, and ordered to make restitution and to pay the costs of .the prosecution, £1 Is.
