DOMINIONS AND THE WAR
DIFFERENT VIEWS ON
PROCEDURE
LONDON, January 8.
Replying in the1 House of Commons to a question about Dominion representation on the War Cabinet, the Foreign Secretary, Mr. Eden, said it was wrong to assume that the Dominions were agreed on a certain course of action. As a matter of fact, the Dominions did take quite different views. He quoted statements by the Prime Ministers of Canada and New Zealand saying that they were satisfied with the present arrangement. On the other hand, the Prime Minister of Australia took another view.
Mr. Eden said that when the. Government sent reinforcements to the Middle East the claims of Malaya and Singapore were not forgotten. If the decision taken- was wrong, it was taken deliberately, and was not based on neglect. The forces in the Far East had been reinforced many times since 1939.
