MEDITERRANEAN WAR

ADMIRAL'S REVIEW

(Rec. 9 a.m.) ALEXANDRIA, Jan. 8.

Admiral Sir Andrew Cunningham, Commander-in-Chief, the Mediterranean, broadcasting from his flagship, H.M.S. Queen Elizabeth, said:

"All is well at the end of another year of war in the Mediterranean, but I" admit that we have had to fight and win against pretty long odds at times. What gives me the most gratification is that the close of 1941 sees the Libyan coast in our hands, because that means that the Navy has kept the seas. All our sacrifices of men and ships off Greece and Crete were not, after all, in vain."
