JAPANESE DISASTER
HALF FORCE LOST
CHUNGKING, January 7
General Hsueh-yueh, commanding the forces which inflicted the disastrous defeat on the Japanese at Changsha, reported that half the enemy force which approached Changsha had been destroyed.
The Chinese forces "are tightening their pressure upon the enemy pocketed between the Laotao and Liuyang Rivers and are inflicting heavy casualties on them.
