Empire Forces In Malaya
LONDON, January 8. Today's Singapore communique reports a further move south by British troops in Malaya and another R.A.F. attack on a Japanese aerodrome. Enemy infantry and tanks maintained their pressure throughout the day on the lower Perak front. At one point enemy tanks succeeded in penetrating1 the British defences. British forces have been withdrawn to the south of the Slim River, a tributary of. the Bernam JRiver, which divides , Perak from Sclangor. They have suffered some losses in guns and transport. • Further south, in tlie Selangor area, there are indications of some enemy infiltration, otherwise the situation remains unchanged. , .
