WOMEN'S UNIFORMS

ILLUSTRATED GAZETTE

The New Zealand Gazette, in which appear Government notices and proclamations in very formal and often quite puzzling legal phraseology, has no reputation as a journal for light reading or one that the average person is likely to take home and pore over for recreation purposes. But this week's issue is brighter. It is illustrated on one page in the manner of a woman's fashion journal, and because these illustrations have to do with the uniforms, badges, and insignia that may be used by enrolled members of the Womp-.'s War Service Auxiliary, this week's Gazette possibly may attract greater feminine interest.

This is not the first time illustrations have appeared in the Gazette, but it happens only on rare occasions. The uniforms stipulated are closely in keeping in design with those already being \yorn by members of the, service, but there is a difference between the uniform of officials and those of other members of the auxiliary. Officials will also wear distinguishing badges.
