AUSTRALIAN DEFENCES
(Bee. 9 a.m.) . LONDON, Dec. 2. The Army Minister. Mr. F. M. Forde, announced that there will be ah immediate stocktaking in Australia to see that nothing has been left undone to strengthen the Commonwealth's defences and give the best equipment, arms, and ammunition for Australian soldiers, both here and overseas. . The Australian people wanted to live in peace and harmony with other nations, he said, but were prepared to ■ fight to the last man to protect thenheritage and independence.
