R.S.A. WOMEN'S SECTION

AID FOR RELATIVES OF

SERVICEMEN

It was decided at a meeting of women, held in-the Wellington Returned Soldiers' Association Rooms on Wednesday, to form a women's association to assist the W.R.S.A. This association is to be called the Wellington R.S.A. (Women's Section).

It was agreed that the objectives of the section should be to foster social contacts between wives and mothers of the men on active service, to ensure their well-being, to visit bereaved women or those whose near relatives were wounded, missing, or prisoners of war, to care for young mothers, the wives of men on active service, and generally to assist the W.R.S.A. in its work in the community.

LARGE EXECUTIVE.

Mrs. C. H. Weston presided and the following officers were appointed:— Patron, Mi-s. W. E. Parry (representing the R.N.); president, Mrs. C. H. Weston (R.S.A.); vice-presidents, Mrs. P. Fraser, Mrs. William Perry (N.Z.R.S.A.), Mrs. T. C. A. Hislop (R.S.A.), Mrs. A. Cowles (R.S.A.), Mrs. H. W. L. Saunders (Air Force), Mrs. E. Wilton (sub-branches), Mrs. H. H. Anslow (Rose Workers), Mrs. H. E. Avery (auxiliary committee), Mrs. E. Puttick (Army), Matron Willis (Nursing Sisters), Mrs. J. I. Goldsmith (South African Veterans); treasurer, Mrs. W. J. McKeon.

A general committee was elected, comprising Mesdames J. Staples, P. G. Thomson, J. H. McKay, C Stewart, M.P., J. Spence, J. Pow, M. Miller, F. Boyle, E. G. Downes, F. Southern, K. Parkinson, F. A. Turner, S. Porter, A. McVicar, A. L. George, and B. C. Williams.

From this general committee will be chosen an executive committee of seven, and sub-committees to carry out the various sections of the. work. • The Rose workers will form an independent cbmmittee.

TRIBUTE TO ROSE WORKERS

Colonel C. H. Weston, K.C., D.5.0., president of W.R.5.A... briefly addresed the gathering. He paid an appreciative tribute to the Rose workers whose work over a long period of years, had been of such great assistance to the R.S.A. He also mentioned the project of securing administrative accommodation for the R.S.A. whose work is rapidly extending, and asked for cooperation in the effort now being made to raise funds for the purpose. Any woman who desires to assist may become a member of the women's section, if proposed and seconded by members and approved by the generalcommittee, in payment of 2s 6d annual subscription.
