Auckland.—Customs revenue collected at Auckland. during October amounted to £229,921, an Increase of £ 3504 compared with the corresponding month last/year. The ;|otal collected foe the iO months, ending October 31, amounting, to £2,343,198; shows a decrease of £289,667; compared with the similar period :ln: 194)). Sales, tax revenue was higher in October and for the ten-monthly period, the respective increases ■ being £ 9756 and. £ 26,544. Collections in October were as follows, the figures for October, 1940, being in parentheses:—Customs, £229,921 (£226,417); excise : : on beer, £27,673 (£31,779); sales tax, ■£ 108,183 (£98,427); war expenses account, £1191041 (£113,961). For 10 months ended October 31 the totals were: Customs, £2,343,198 (£2,632,865); excise on beer, £281,667 (£259,571); sales tax, £968,972 (£942,428); war expenses account, £1,113,317 (£448,987).
Dunedin.—Customs revenue for the port of Otago showed' a decrease of £4616 for the month just ended, compared with the total in October, 1940, but the returns for beer duty, sales tax, arid war expenses increased. For the 10 months of the calendar year Customs revenue decreased by £69,555. Beer duty is only slightly under the total for the corresponding period of 1940 and, sales tax and • war expenses revenue increased by £8417' and £210,733 respectively. Following are the detailed '" figures, the 1941 totals being: ■' given : first:— Month of October: Customs, £39,022 (£43,638); beer, £39,834 (£34,868); sales tax, £33,356 (£29,653); war expenses, £44,002 (£41,503?: Figures for 10 months: Customs, £488,644. Christchurch. —The Customs revenue collected at Christchurch for October, with figures for October last in. parentheses, was: Customs, £74,464 (£74,765); beer, £20,342 (£20,341); sales tax, £45,469 (£46,666); war expenses account, £51,453 (£53,412). For the seven months of the financial year figures are: Customs, £537,761 (£591,----450); beer, £117,462 (£109,155); war expenses account, £347,034 (£171,303) #
