Official Chinese quarters today denied Tokio reports that the United States had demanded permanent bases in China in return for American aid.
In Washington, the United States Secretary of-State, Mr. Cordell Hull, at a Press conference, said that he knew nothing about the Japanese report that the United States had asked for the use of four bases in China.
