McKelvie Handicap are Gladynev, Happy Ending, and Little Robin, a trio due to take their place in the big two-mile event at Riccarton tomorrow week. Twelve months ago Taurangi won the McKelvie Handicap and then went south to run second in the New Zealand Cup. Consequently, the form of this year's Cup candidates will be followed with close interest. Further^ as the totalisator can carry twenty-four numbers only, three brackets have been declared, Sir Bent having been coupled with Siyana, Te Awe Awe with The Champ, and The Hawker with Manutere, the last-named being the one two-year-old in the field.
