CLIPPER SERVICE
TASMAN EXTENSION
NEGOTIATIONS WITH U.S.A.
MR. NASH'S MISSION
(By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright.) (Rec. 1.30 p.m.) CANBERRA, Oct. 31. The' Australian and New Zealand Governments will open negotiations soon with the United States Government for the extension of the PanAmerican clipper service to Australia. The Minister of Air, Mr. A. S. Drakeford, who has been conferring with the Hon. W. Nash, said that the basis for the negotiations had been agreed upon by the two Governments. The route to be followed by the clippers if the service was extended could be decided only after arrangements with the American authorities had been completed, the Minister added. Probably it would be some months before any change was made in the present service.
In; earlier discussions about the extension of the service it was suggested that the clippers should fly from Noumea to Brisbane and Sydney. It was now possible that this route, and another to Australia, via New Zealand, would be used alternately.
