ONE NAZI PLANE SHOT DOWN

(Rec. 1 p.m.) LONDON, August 18. Hull was raided by the Germans last night. 'Nine people are reported to nave been killed and several seriously injured when bombs fell on houses in different areas. A large number of raiders approached, but only a few got through. Eventually a large force of fighters dispersed the attack. i The enemy's activities were mainly confined to coastal areas in the east and south-west of. England. One bomber was brought down.

This morning one lone raider approached the north-east of England. It did not cross the coast, and was last seen streaking out to sea with fighters on its tail. Yesterday's daylight attacks cost th« enemy seven fighters.
