Safety on the Route
WASHINGTON, August 16
The Secretary of the Navy. Colonel Knox, said that since the United States naval patrol had gone into effect between America and Iceland the sinking .of supplies for Britain had ceased entirely.
Not a submarine had been heard nor an Axis flag seen in the patrol area.
casion spells the beginning of the end of the Battle of the Atlantic, and the end of the Battle of the Atlantic spells ultimate victory for Britain and her Allies.
"The day of the subjugation of defenceless, unprepared nations by the Axis is past." The co-director of the Office of Production Management, Mr. W. S. Knudsen, speaking at the dedication of a new 19,000,000-dollar Curtiss Wright aeroplane plant, revealed that the plant by January 1 next would be producing 500 military planes a month.—B.O.W.
