ADMIRALTY ORDERS IN U.S.A.

FIRST SHIP OFF WAYS

On the occasion of the launching of the first merchant vessel built to the order of the British Admiralty in the United States, the First Lord of the Admiralty, Mr. A. V. Alexander, sent a message of good will to the president of the California Shipbuilding Corporation, Mr. K. Todd.

The vessel, called the Ocean Vanguard, is the first of a fleet of merchant vessels being built by American labour and to be manned by British seamen to help keep open the Atlantic
