RED CROSS REPORT

BRITISH AND EMPIRE TROOPS

(Rec. 2.20 p.m.) LONDON, August 15. New Zealand, Australian, British, and Palestinian troops who were taken prisoner in Greece and Crete are in the prison camps Stalag XV 111 (a) and Stalag XV 111 (d) in Germany, and British and Anzac officers are held in camp Oflag V (b). Reporting to this effect, a committee of the International Red Cross states that the camps are up to the standard of the prison camps in Germany. Some of the prisoners in Stalag XV 111 (d) were housed in tents, but permanent buildings are now stated to be under i construction. There is no serious cause for complaint, but the men's chief I needs are food and clothing. These are being supplied as fast as possible ifrom a reserve formed for this purpose by the International Red Cross Committee in Geneva. |
