LATE MRS. EDMOND
MANAGED HORNCHURCH CANTEEN
Mrs. Olive Elkins Edmond, who died in Palmerston North on Wednesday was the daughter of the late Richard and Margaret Allen, of Adelaide, Australia, and latterly of Invercargill, and the mother of Mr. John Edmond, of Glen Oroua. , Many returned * soldiers of the last war will remember her for her work at the Hornchurch Convalescent Camp from its inception in 1916 till it was closed in 1919. Mrs. Edmond managed the canteen provided by the late Mr. W. Williams, of Hawke's Bay, and which was turned into the large model V.M.C.A. recreation and vocational training hut. Her services were suitably recognised by the head office of the V.M.C.A. in London, and also the camp authorities. "
