HERE AND THERE
At Karori Tomorrow.
Tomorrow a "Monster Shop Day" is to be held in Karori at 145 Main Road (near Lancaster Street). It is in aid; of the Christmas parcels for all Karori men serving overseas, and is being organised by a committee of ladies. Everybody is invited to "bring and buy." Lonelys Patients Visited. Lonely patients in the Wellington Public Hospital, and a number of sick soldiers, are visited regularly by members of the Wellington Hospital Ladies' Auxiliary, and at a recent meeting the president, Mrs. O'Leary, said that the work of visiting was being carried out most enthusiastically. A number of letters from patients who had been assisted by the auxiliary proved their appreciation as well as pointing to the necessity of this aid being increased. A presentation from members was made to Mrs. Mowlem, a foundation member, who is leaving Wellington. Birthday Party Raises £30. An afternoon gathering was held recently in the Seatoun Bowling Club Pavilion, when the Seatoun W.N.R. celebrated their twenty-first anniversary. There were over 100 guests present, and from the result of this party the residential nursery funds benefited by £30. Mrs. Davis, the president, welcomed the guests, and Mrs. A. P. Smith, the first president of this organisation, gave a short address. Mrs. A. B. Gibbons, who outlined the work and routine of the residential nursery, was the principal speaker. Mesdames Castle, Caigou, Duncan, Rossiter, P. Smith, and Miss Peterson entertained the guests with songs and elocutionary items. The hostesses were Mesdames ; Gardiner, Lancaster, Pycroft, Stone, and 'Snelling.
