Mr. A. J. MacDonnell has been selected National Party candidate for the Lyttelton seat. He is a member of the Dominion council of the party and is aged 38. He conducts an engineering business in the city.

The name of Mr. G. E. Manning has been forwarded to the national executive of the Labour Party as candidate forChristchurch North, the seat held by the Leader of the Opposition (Mr. Holland). Mr. Manning is a member of the City Council, a former chairman of the tramway board, and has been organising secretary of-the W.E.A. since 1921.
