DEMAND FOR RABBITSKINS.
A heavy offering of approximately 81 tons was submitted to auction- at today's rabbitskin sale. Excellent competition was forthcoming for all grades, and buying was well spread Exporters operated freely on United States account, with New Zealand manufacturers buying lots suitable for their trade. As the sale progressed prices showed a firming, in some cases the advance being 4d per lb. Values as compared with the June 17 sale showed the following advances:—Hatters' sorts, 4d to 8d per lb; late autumns and incoming grades, 6d to lid; winter grades. 12d to 18d. First winter bucks sold to 184 d; first early winter bucks to 170 d; second winter bucks to 175 d; first winter does, to 178 d; second winter does to 156 d; first incomings, to 156 d; spotted winter : bucks, to 160 d; spotted winter does, to 138 d; furrier does, to 156 d.
