REPORTED MISSING
MAYOR OF PETONE
Advice has been received that Mr. George London, Mayor of Petone, who has been serving with the forces in the Middle East, has been reported missing.
Mr. London was born in the Hutt
Valley in 1906, during the period when his father was Mayor. He was educated at Hutt Valley schools, including the Hutt Valley High School, then known as the Petone High School. At the age of 27 he was elected to the Petone Borough Council, second from the top of the poll. In 1935 lie was returned at the head of the poll :i\id 3 years later he was elected as Mayor, as a Hutt Valley representative on the Wellington Harbour Board, and as a Petone representative on the Hutt Valley Electric Power Board, At, the recent elections he was re-elected Mayor of Petone unopposed.
