SEVERANCE FROM DENMARK

PARLIAMENT'S VOTE

(Rec. 9.45 a.m.) STOCKHOLM, May 20 Iceland has again become a wholly independent State, Mr. Finsen, the Charge d'Affaires, announced. Parliament has voted a severance of the union with Denmark which has operated since 1918. A Regent is being elected to take over the duties formerly exercised hy the King of Denmark. Mr. Finsen added that Iceland is devoted to the Danish Crown, but the present difficulties, mainly connected with communications, necessitate a severance.— U.P.A.
