VALUE OF WASTE
IMPORTANCE TO THE
WAR EFFORT
EXHIBITION ARRANGED
The first "anti-waste" exhibition to b held in New Zealand since the war begai. will be opened officially by the Minister of Supply (Mr. Sullivan) on Wednesday. June 11.
The organising work for this exhibition for which no charge will be made has been considerable. Several committees of the Junior Chamber of Commerce have been occupied for over three months. The investigation work required to determine all possible forms of waste material and the uses to which the waste can be put in helping the war effort has unearthed a wealth of information and interesting statistics Thesi facts, when displayed in graphic form in the exhibition, should make it clear to every visitor, particularly the children, why it is their duty to save every piece of usable metal and every scrap of paper or cardboard, no matter how small.
The exhibition will occupy nearly 60C square feet in one of the city's leading departmental stores. The stands and entire display work have been carried out by the Government Publicity Studios at Miramar, and the Junior' Chamber of Commerce is grateful to this Department and to the Department of Industries and Commerce for their prompt and wholehearted cooperation in making the exhibition possible.
The stands and display are being built as units for easy transport to other centres, and the Auckland Junior Chamber of Commerce has expressed its interest in conducting a similar exhibition in Auckland.
