BREEDING FEATHERED GAME
A satisfactory breeding season is recorded in the annual report of the Wellington Acclimatisation Society. It is believed that the rearing of pheasants is a record, 1150 having been raised. An additional' 232 mallard duck were reared at the game, farm, and liberated as pinioned birds in suitable locations. Rearing duck for liberation on private property, the owners of which undertake to look after them, ha? proved a success. In localities where 15 pinioned birds were supplied, 100 well-grown ducks resulted It is believed that it will no! be long before the increase in wild birds will show marked results.
