(P.A.) AUCKLAND, This Day. A two-way conversation by telephone between the former president, Mr. A. A. Ross, and delegates attending the Auckland provincial conference of the New Zealand Farmers' Union, took place today from Mr. Ross's home at Mission Bay, where he is confined by illness. . The president, Captain Rushworth, said that the Telephone" Department I had installed plugs through two exchanges. There were two land lines with microphones and loud-speakers at each end, and the arrangement was a triumph of engineering. In a brief address Mr. Ross said that the union was approaching its halfcentury and was growing from strength to strength. He wished the members a.successful conference. . A number of the delegates sent greetings to Mr. Ross, the president paying him a warm tribute for his lifelong service to the organisation. The conference is attended by the Dominion president, Mr. W. W. Mulholland. ' .
