RIDER LOSES LEAD BAG

(P.A) ' AUCKLAND, May 17. Soon after passing the post in the Waikato Hurdles at Te Rapa Streamline lost his lead bag, which was carried in by the clerk of the course and then handed to Mr. C. Clarkin, assistant starter, who passed it on to one of the stewards. The rider, G. Ridgway, mounted the scales without the bag, and was 151b under weight. Meanwhile the lead bag was deposited on the floor nearby^ and the stipendiary steward, Mr. C. Gomer, directed that it should be handed to Ridgway, who then made the correct weight. A protest was lodged by H. E. Gray, trainer of The Dozer, against Streamline on the ground of an irregularity in weighing-in, but this was dismissed.
